Hey guys, sorry for the no-post last week again. I've been away and have family visiting now...sometimes my little sangha post just slips through the cracks.
Anyhooo....this week I'm sharing some learning I'm doing about how our minds work. In particular I want to share what we know about the way 'priming' affects our perceptions and decisions. This is quite incredible stuff, and quite important to know, I think, if we want to see our experience clearly.
Hope to see you there.

This week @ Beaches Sangha - anything + film night & dinner
Hi all.
Some resources
Before announcing this week's topic, I want to remind you of a couple of resources at your disposal. First, you can check what's on at Sangha at any time just by looking at the 'What's on' tab on our web site. Secondly, the Secular Buddhism Australia web site has lots of resources including a glossary of terms. I'll be adding some more to the glossary soon, as Jampa has furnished me with another list, but in the meantime, a number of the common words and lists are already explained there.
This week at Beaches
...we're having our quarterly free discussion, facilitated by Neil. This is where you can bring any questions that have been brewing, or experiences you'd like to share - maybe for group reflection or input...or not. These always turn out to be really interesting and interactive.
Dinner & film night
Also, my friend Tim Goddard, who runs a big mindfulness practice in the eastern suburbs, is holding a community dinner and film night this Sunday night. The focus is on gratitude for nature and the role we can play in easing suffering. I'm going along. Let me know if you'd like to join me. Here's a link.
I hope to see you Thursday.

This week @ Beaches Sangha - our favourite Christian Minister
Hi all.
This week @ Sangha we have our favourite boundary-riding Christian Minister, Michael Barnes coming to speak again. This week's talk is called 'Detachment from a Christian perspective'. Let's hope we don't take the wind out of his sails when we tell him the Buddha never spoke of detachment....rather non-attachment (there's quite a difference). I'm sure we won't, and his talk will be stimulating and enjoyable as always. I hope you can join us.
Also, if you ever want to know what's coming up at Sangha, don't forget you can just click on the 'What's On' tab on the web site. Betsy keeps the program updated there.
